tighten excess skin

Plasma Surgical is widely used in treating the area around the eyes to tighten excess skin both above and below the eye. Classed as the non-surgical blepharoplasty, the treatment is minimally invasive and a great alternative to surgery.

The Plasma causes a process called sublimation which turns a solid into a gas. With instant results, the treatment ensures that tissue around the desired area is not treated or affected.

Plasma surgical treatment works by triggering a contraction of the skin fibres to bring about a tightening, lifting and remodelling effect. Plasma uses plasma energy to achieve this. The principle involves the ionisation of gases contained in the air to create a miniature “arc” of energy which can be used to treat specific areas of concern without damaging the surrounding areas or applying any unwanted heat. Plasma treatment is much less invasive than laser or diathermy.

The advantage of Plasma is that it offers an alternative to surgery, which itself can be highly invasive, have associated risks and may involve prolonged downtime. There is minimal downtime and risk of complication associated with Plasma treatment.

Immediately following treatment, the skin may feel tight and a throbbing, burning sensation may be felt. Sunburn-like redness can be seen immediately after treatment and the small ‘dots’ from the treatment will be visible. The skin will feel hot and we may ask you to apply an ice pack or use a cooling fan. Swelling, discolouration and flaking can be expected in the days posttreatment. Once the redness has subsided after 1-2 days the skin will appear darker. This is old skin and will quickly be replaced by ‘new’ pink skin.

You should follow the aftercare advice provided by Joolia Gilvey.
